Harvesting Yellowtail from SeaStation
SeaLift™
The SeaLift harvest system helps farmers reduce the costs associated with offshore harvesting operations. SeaLift uses the controlled ascent and descent of SeaStation fish pens to isolate harvest fish and deliver them to the harvest pump intake without diver intervention.
Proven Design
The SeaLift concept has been successfully used to harvest a variety of species from SeaStation fish pens. The patent pending SeaLift system was designed using computational fluid dynamic (CFD) software to optimize the reach and draw of the farm’s harvest pump. CFD was also used to model individual fish motions through the net and cone to identify and eliminate areas where fish might be marked or damaged.
Operating Benefits
- Uses controlled ascent and descent to eliminate diver time.
- Optimized cone shape for maximum pull and minimum fish marking.
- Option for built-in passive grading during harvest cycle.
- Available in a range of sizes to match species and fish pen capacity.
Other Harvest Methods
OceanSpar also designs and builds custom nets for alternative harvest methods including seining and brailing. We also provide equipment for passive grading within fish pens. Integrated harvest rings are available on AquaSpar fish pens which simplify harvesting and grading. AquaSpar also uses of winches and other equipment providing mechanical advantage to reduce farm labor costs.
